Colston Tennis Club

Colston Tennis Club was founded in 1896, originally in the grounds of Filkins Hall a few miles from its present site. The origins of the name of the club are unclear, but it may have been so named in an attempt to win the patronage of the wealthy Bristol Colston’s who lived at Filkins Hall from the mid eighteenth century until 1928.

The club today stands in its magnificent grounds and, on a summer evening, there is hardly anything that can compare with the pleasure of tennis at Colston. The central aim is to provide a tennis club that welcomes players of all levels. As well as providing opportunities for members to play competitive tennis.

Social Play

The club actively encourages existing, new or prospective members to come along to one of the weekly club sessions. These are a great way to play tennis while meeting new people. Plus there is plenty of time each week for members to arrange their own games.

Coaching

Chris Hand, the club’s LTA qualified coach delivers a range of lessons for all abilities and ages. Including Cardio Tennis, weekly coaching sessions and holiday camps for kids.

Competitive Tennis

While the club does not compete in local leagues, there is an annual club tournaments. Open to all members, this event is a fun way to test your skills against other club members.

Membership

All standards of tennis players are welcome at Colston Tennis Club. And so it’s easy for all ages to join the club.
