Cowbridge Tennis Club
Cowbridge Tennis Club is the tennis section of Cowbridge & District Athletic Club, which was formed in 1913. Mr EH Ebsworth of Llandogh Castle originally owed the land. The ground has been a home for many sports since at least 1895. Today, the club offers a superb year round programme with activities for all ages and standards.
Club tennis mix in sessions are on Saturday afternoon and Monday evening. In order to keep a good standard at these sessions, beginners and ‘rusty rackets’ are encouraged to have some coaching first. If you want to arrange your own games, then there’s plenty of court time for you to book.
Vale Tennis Academy provides junior and adult lessons. As well as Cardio Tennis. Mini tennis is available for young children from 3 years old and is a fun way to learn the basics of tennis. Juniors have access to regular coaching and junior tournaments as well as holiday camps. As juniors develop they are welcome to compete in the ‘Road To Wimbledon’ events, Cowbridge Tennis Junior Championships, and National Club League. Adult also benefit from a range of group coaching, which take place throughout the week.
Currently 2 ladies teams and 2 mens team compete in the South Wales Summer Doubles League. 1 mens and 3 junior teams also compete in the summer Aegon leagues. During the winter a number of teams compete in local leagues. There is also an annual Club Championship and 1 day Spring and Autumn tournaments.
If you’re unsure about joining Cowbridge Tennis Club then you can purchase a taster 3 month membership. Then when your ready to join the club offers 12 different membership types. These include family, couple, adult and winter only membership. Fees are affordable with adult membership costing just over £2 per week. And since there are no joining fees or minimum playing standard, becoming a member is easy.
