Dean Lawn Tennis and Squash Club
Situated in the heart of Edinburgh, The Dean Lawn Tennis and Squash Club (formerly Dean Lawn Tennis Club) has a rich history which dates back to 1884. And so people have enjoyed playing tennis at the site for over 130 years! The club take it’s name from the Dean Bridge, which is close to the club and located at Edinburgh city centre’s West End. In addition to recently update tennis facilities, the club offers squash and table tennis.
At the club, members can use the tennis courts whenever they feel like playing. However, if you want to meet other tennis players and play weekly, then the club runs a mixed abilities social tennis session each Wednesday evening. As well as on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Finally, a Ladies’ only group meets for social play on a Thursday evening.
Tennis coaching sessions are available for groups and individuals with Richard Axton, a professional tennis coach. Richard will inspire you with fun activities and solid advice. Non-members are also welcome to join in with the coaching programme.
The club organises events through out the year such as double tennis tournaments and a singles league. These are open to all abilities and provide a great way to improve your tennis and meet other members! If you really want to challenge yourself, then club team compete in a local league.
There are various categories of membership at Dean Lawn Tennis and Squash Club. These include Individual, Couple, Family, Juniors, Non-playing and Students. As the club offers two spots, you can either join just the tennis section or just the squash section. However you could be a full member and have access to all of the facilities. Visitors can play up to two times each year for a small fee.
