Oakwood Tennis Club
Based in Crayford, Kent, Oakwood Tennis Club is an award winning family friendly Club. Located on the same site for more than 70 years, the club was originally a social tennis club for staff of Vickers Crayford and Dartford. In the 1990s the club renamed to Oakwood tennis club. Today, the club is part of the VCD Athletic Club and in 2001 was awarded Clubmark accreditation. Regardless of your age or abilities, there something for you at Oakwood Tennis Club. There are regular social tennis sessions on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. As well as plenty of court time available to members. So, whether you have a partner or not, you have many opportunities to play tennis each week.
Adult coaching including beginner/improver sessions are available. Also adult members can take part in advanced squads and book private coaching. There’s a fantastic junior coaching programme at the club for all levels and ages from 4-18. This includes coaching and regular play sessions as well as very popular Holiday Tennis Camps. Plus, the coaching team work with a number of local schools introducing children and parents to the sport. So regardless of your age, the team are on hand to help you progress and develop.
In terms of match play, the club competes in a number of leagues. Adult teams compete in the North Kent Winter League and North Kent Summer League. There are also Junior Teams in the Aegon Kent Leagues. For those not yet ready for match play, the club hosts an a number of club competitions each year, including both singles and doubles tournaments.
A number of Oakwood Tennis Club membership options are available including adult and junior. Several family discounts are available. Therefore all types of tennis players will feel welcome at the club. And since there’s no joining fee or basis playing standard, becoming a member is easy!
