Slazenger Sports and Social Club
Slazenger sports and Social Club is a multi-sport facility based on the outskirts of Horbury, Wakefield. It has existed since the 1940’s and since then has served the local community ever since. In addition to Tennis, the club offers Football, Hockey, Bowls and archery.
Tennis has been one of the longest standing sports at Slazenger. In the place of old red shale courts are modern acrylic hard courts. These are unique in the Wakefield District, similar to those used in international tennis tournaments. The surface is slow enough to be perfectly suited to beginners and professionals alike.
The sports club hosts a set of 3 high-quality hard surface tennis courts. They are available to book throughout the year on a pay per play basis and open to everyone. So why not bring your racket and have a go?!
Wakefield School of Tennis leads the club’s coaching and provides lessons for a wide range of ages and abilities.
As the focus is on coaching and court hire, there is sadly, no competitive tennis available. However, many local clubs do offer a range and so it might be best to consider those first.
Slazenger Sports and Social Club offers pay and play tennis for all, with discounts members of the club (hockey, football, bowls, archery). There’s also cheaper access for those with family membership as well!
