Walmer Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club

Before Walmer Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club became a tennis club in 1883. It is believed that the land it now occupies was, as the name of the square eludes to, a place for archery. In the 1960’s, the members at the time had the foresight and opportunity to purchase the land. This guaranteed the future for the following generations.

In the past 10 years, the club has invested heavily in the future of the club and continues to look forwards. Walmer offers regular social tennis, coaching for all ages and competitive league play.

Social Play

With club mix-in Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as on Saturdays and Sundays afternoons, there is as much social play at Walmer as anyone could wish for! And if that’s not enough, members are free to book courts whenever they feel like playing!

Coaching

Friday evenings are exclusively for juniors and minis. These sessions provide the younger members with free coaching available and lots of fun activities. There are also regular hot dog nights and annual competitions as well as social functions.

Competitive Tennis

Each year, the club holds The Walmer Open week, the unofficial Tennis Championships of East Kent.

Membership

Although Walmer Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is a Members Only Club, new members are always welcome. Joining is easy, as there is no minimum standard or hidden fees.
