Compton and Shawford Lawn Tennis Club

Formed in 1989, Compton and Shawford Lawn Tennis Club is a vibrant sports club in Wimborne. The club has a strong number of juniors and students.

Social Play

All club members may have access to the courts at any time in addition to the club session. So long as courts aren’t been used for matches or coaching, as a member you’re able to play tennis as often as you you like!

Coaching

Mark Finlan, the club’s coach runs group coaching sessions throughout the week which are also open to non-members. Private coaching is also available.

From the outset the club has had junior coaching and a committee member to represent the juniors. This means the club has been investing in the next generation for nearly 30 years!

Competitive Tennis

The club fields 2 teams in the summer Southampton LTA Apsley Mixed League. In the Southampton LTA Winter League, the club competes with 2 men’s and 2 ladies teams.

The club holds several one-day tournaments for members during the year. Senior “friendly” matches are played regularly with other local clubs. A Senior Box League presently organised by Martin Bell offers extra match-play opportunities.

Membership

All are welcome to join Compton and Shawford Lawn Tennis Club. And since there are no joining fees or playing in tests and affordable membership , you’ll enjoy joining the club. Visitors are also always welcome.
