Grafton Tennis and Squash Club
Grafton Tennis and Squash Club is Balham, Streatham and Clapham’s best-kept secret! A green oasis in SW London and is the fifth oldest club in the land founded in 1888, taking its name from Grafton Square in Clapham where residents played tennis on the common.
The club welcomes tennis and squash players of all standards and age groups, and are very family-oriented with strong junior sections.
There’s lots going on in terms of social play. Each week there are three sessions, which are open to all and run throughout the year. And if that isn’t enough tennis, then you can always book a court for your own games and can even book courts online, up to 14 days in advance!
Junior coaching takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. On a Friday evening, there’s a social play session for junior members as well as free matchplay sessions on Sunday evenings. Also, a full school holiday programme for all levels and ages is available.
For the adults, individual lessons are available and so is a range of group lessons for beginners, improver groups and match players. Also, adult non-members may take up to six lessons before joining the club.
Looking for competitive action? You’re in luck at Grafton Tennis and Squash Club! There’s Mens, Ladies, and Mixed teams, who compete in the Surrey Leagues. The club is also active in the Millennium Cup, a local tournament aimed at intermediate players.
Plus the club hosts 3 all day doubles tournaments throughout the summer. As well as Singles box leagues, Summer Championships and Winter Mixed tournament.
As Grafton Tennis and Squash Club offers two sports, a number of memberships are available. If you only wish to play tennis, then a number of packages are available, including junior, adult, couple and student. And since there’s no joining fee or playing in tests, becoming a member is easy.
