Abingdon Lawn Tennis Club

Abingdon Lawn Tennis Club has for over ninety years been a focus for tennis players in the Abingdon and South Oxfordshire area. The club provides all-year-round tennis playing opportunities for players of all ages and ability levels. The programme of activities caters for social tennis, competitive league play and includes coaching for adults and juniors by the professional club coach.

 

Social Play

All members are welcome to the twice weekly social tennis nights. Simply, turn up and play. The more people who come, the more fun is had by all! Juniors meet on a Saturday morning for a coach led session.

 

Coaching

Club coach, Craig Amison-Smith offers group and individual coaching lessons for Juniors and Adults. In addition, Jeremy Wood offers advanced one-on-one session. Whereas, Bev Woodcock runs numous coaching courses for beginners and adult returnees as well as personal adult coaching.

 

Competitive Tennis

12 teams compete in the OLTA Summer League, one team competes in the National Club League team, as well as a mens and a ladies Oxfordshire Midweek League team and friendly teams. There are also two teams in two age categories in the Aegon Junior Team Tennis. This provides a range of competitive tennis opportunities for all ages. In addition, the club holds a number of tournaments for all ages each summer.

 

Membership

There are many membership classes available. And including senior and junior as well as weekday membership. Country and Associate membership are both available and offer players who might live outside the area or may be a member of another club the opportunity to join.

 

Extras

Finally, there’s a range of social event held throughout the year at Abingdon Lawn Tennis Club.
