Braid Lawn Tennis Club
Located in Morningside, south Edinburgh, Braid Lawn Tennis Club is a private tennis club. The club’s rich history dated back to 1890 and therefore is one of Scotland’s oldest tennis clubs. The club has three all-weather artificial grass floodlit courts and a fully equipped clubhouse. There’s an exciting programme of tennis available at the club for all levels. So, whether you wan to play socially or competitively, Braid offers a range of opportunities.
Social Play
Adults meet on Saturday afternoons for social tennis. All abilities are welcome and it’s a great way to meet other members. Those who are retired, can play with similar people as part of The golden oldies, who meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Adults of all standards are welcome to compete in social tournaments, which take place on Saturday afternoons in the summer.
Coaching
Head coach, Mhairi Beattie, is an LTA Senior Performance Coach (Level 4) with 10 years’ experience in coaching junior and adult players at a variety of levels. She offers a range of coaching including free sessions for junior members during term time. Weekly Cardio Tennis sessions are also available. These sessions are perfect for those wanting to stay fit while playing tennis.
Competitive Tennis
In addition to social tournament in the summer, teams are active in the East of Scotland Tennis Leagues. This provides players, who wish play a more competitive game with a range of opportunities. Junior are also active in match play with teams in the Aegon Team tennis.
Membership
Braid Lawn Tennis Club welcomes new junior and adult members of all abilities. While the club does charge a joining fee, the cost of membership is affordable. The bowling club invites all tennis club members to play petanque.
