Buxton Tennis Club

Buxton Tennis Club is part of the Buxton Cricket, Bowls and Tennis club By 1883, the club was the setting for many major tennis tournaments. And until 1951, the club was the venue for the All-England Ladies Doubles Tennis Championships. The current club is the proud of these traditions, yet it offers a modern programme with a range of social and competitive tennis for all standards.

 

The courts are set in a beautiful location alongside the cricket ground and bowling green with open views to the south-East. The centre is also within easy walking distance of Buxton Town Centre.

 

Social Play

The club offers the opportunity to take part in social play, with open sessions on Saturday mornings and Monday evenings. As well as the chance to playing when you feel like it.

 

Coaching

The club run three junior coaching sessions on a Sunday with sessions for beginner, intermediate and advanced tennis players. In addition, two supervised sessions for juniors take place on Wednesday evenings. One of these sessions is for pre-secondary children and the other is for secondary students.  For Adults, there is group and private coaching available by request.

 

Competitive Tennis

Club teams compete in the Sheffield and District leagues. Also there is the occasional club tournament.

 

Membership

Buxton Tennis Club’s affordable membership enables all local residents to join. Plus with a range of options, the club caters to all ages and standards. New adult membership also benefit from reduced membership fees for the first year which work out at less than a £1 per week. Visitors are also welcome for up to three times, before being asked to join.
