Formby Lawn Tennis Club
Although records of the club are scarce prior to 1934, there is evidence that Formby Lawn Tennis Club was established in the late 19th century. Originally there was only grass courts, however when the club was restarted after the war 3 hard courts were constructed. Over the year, the club has continued to invest and now features 6 all weather and 2 grass courts. Today the club offers a great mix of coaching, competitive play and social events.
Social Play
There are regular Juniors and Senior social club play. Adults have access to three social tennis sessions each week. These run throughout the year. Whereas juniors meet on a Friday evening for their social play.
Coaching
The club’s coach Danny McShane runs group sessions including rusty rackets and cardio tennis as well as individual lessons. Also for Juniors there are a range of activities including tennis camps in the school holidays.
Competitive Tennis
The club competes in the Southport and district league and the Liverpool mens leagues. And so there’s plenty of opportunities for those who wish to play a more competitive game.
Membership
With a range of membership, all are welcome at Formby Lawn Tennis Club. There’s no joining fees and adult membership costs under £4 per week. Visitors are welcome for a small fee each time.
