Risbygate Sports Club

Located on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds, Risbygate Sports Club is a fantastic community facility. The club offers a range of sports including, bowling, tennis and squash. Affiliated to the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association), the tennis section welcomes players of all ages and abilities.

 

Social Play

The club’s 4 weekly turn up and play club session enable all a regular game. These social tennis sessions continue all year round. Monday mornings and Saturday afternoons welcome players of all standards joining in. Whereas Tuesday and Thursday evenings offer a more competitive experience yet are still sociable and enjoyable.

 

Coaching

Paul Hope, a LTA Level 4 coach joined at the end of February 2017. He along with his team run a full programme of junior coaching plus daytime coaching for adults (see below). Private lessons are also available.

 

Competitive Tennis

The Club plays competitive matches in the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk and Suffolk Leagues as well as club tournaments. Juniors compete in either the Aegon Under 14 or Under 16 Championships.

 

Membership

While Risbygate Sports Club does charge a joining, it’s a small amount. There are membership options for individual sections as well as the whole range. In terms of tennis membership, adults pay just over £2 per week and can invite visitors up to 6 times. There are also a number of other tennis membership options catering to a range ages.

 

Extras

As a superb community sports club, members can often be found in the bar relaxing. Meeting rooms are also available for hire at competitive rates.
