Southport and Birkdale Sports Club

Southport and Birkdale Sports Club is a thriving Cricket, Hockey, Snooker, Squash and Tennis club. Tennis is the newest section of the Club after Birkdale Lawn Tennis Club joined in 1989. Despite Birkdale being one of the oldest tennis clubs in the country, the Club has continued to grow and expand with new facilities and a lot of investment to enable members to play on excellent courts.

Social Play

Each week 3 social tennis sessions take place when members can just turn up and play. In addition, there’s a weekly session which combines social and coaching combined refreshments served afterwards. These are an excellent way to meet other players and improve your game, especially if you wish to return to tennis not having played for a while.

Also, courts are available to play at most times and you can just come down and play.

If you’re looking to improve your game, then an LTA qualified coach as well as a Level 2 Coaching assistant offering both junior and adult coaching.

Competitive Tennis

The Club has 4 senior teams playing in the Southport and District Tennis League involving weekly matches from May to the end of July, Cup matches and a Club Tournament. Also, 5 junior tennis teams representing the club. Members also enjoy regular friendly matches as well as American Tournaments.

An annual subscription of Southport and Birkdale Sports Club entitles you to enjoy all facilities. A number of options are available including adult, junior and family. Non-members are limited to 3 visits to the club in any 12 month period.
