St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club
For over one hundred years the vision of St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club has always been to encourage families to enjoy a healthy sporting life in picturesque surroundings. Located at the heart of the prestigious St. George’s Hill Estate in Surrey, the club is open to those from the local area.
Established in 1913, the club is nestled within a beautiful 16-acre lakeside setting and is one of the country’s finest members’ owned clubs.
Membership provides access to lawn, indoor and outdoor tennis, all glass exhibition and glass-backed squash courts, a heated indoor swimming pool and state of the art health and fitness facilities. There’s also a boutique spa.
The historic Clubhouse overlooks the lakeside terrace and therefore is a peaceful setting. Friendly staff provide a social environment in which to relax and make friends over lunch, dinner or after sporting activity.
In terms of tennis, there is a wide choice of social and competitive tennis at every level. Mixed tennis forms the hub of the Club’s tennis scene. There are club afternoons on Saturdays and club evenings on Tuesdays.
There’s no better place to develop your tennis playing than at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club. Club coach, David Collins runs a range of courses including Adult Advanced Beginner session and rusty rackets. There’s no commitment as you can turn up and pay as you go.
Mixed box leagues run throughout the year. In the winter months, mixed pairs compete for the Crellin Cup, and in the summer for the Hansford cup. Also in winter; a mixed knock-out tournament, the Ayers Cup, and the Baker Cup.
The Club hosts two Open Tennis Tournaments each year. Firstly, the ITF Grade 3 Seniors Open which attracts competitors from around the globe. Secondly, the St. George’s Hill LTA Grade 3 Open Tournament which is for juniors of all ages, and includes Open Men’s and Ladies’ Events.
The club fields many teams in different leagues, midweek and weekend, local, county, seniors and open. This provides opportunities for players of every standard to represent the club.
While there is a range of membership options, new members must be played in. At your New Members’ Induction, David Collins will advise you where you’ll fit in the best on the adult programme.
