Stansted Tennis Club
Tracing its roots back to 1889, Stansted Tennis Club is situated in the centre of Stansted in Essex. The club welcomes players of all abilities. Junior members represent a large proportion of the membership.
Social Play
As a family friendly club, all standards of tennis player are welcome to attend the weekly club sessions. Simply turn up and mix in. Outside these sessions, members are able to play on the courts.
Coaching
Coaching is available for adult and junior members. While club members have priority, if there are spaces then non-members may join in the coaching sessions. However, after three coaching sessions, a non-member will have to join the club.
Also, club coach Martyn Taplin offers racket restringing at very reasonable rates.
Competitive Tennis
The Hospital Cup was first played in 1949 and the Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles were won by Stansted. The first club cups were given in the 1950s and are still competed for today.
The club holds tournaments regularly and offers a great opportunity to meet new and compete with other members.
Membership
Stansted Tennis Club offers several levels of membership from Junior to Senior as well as Family. As a small community club rates are affordable and so offers superb value for money. Also, visitors are welcome for a small fee.
