BLAGSS Tennis
The BLAGSS Tennis group was one of the original sports offered by BLAGSS – Brighton LGBT Sports Society, which started in 1997. It is a successful and friendly group with about 45 players in total. The group has players of varying standards. So, come along and join in.
Social Play
The club plays on the outdoor courts at Hove Park, Old Shoreham Road (not far from Hove railway station), every Sunday and Wednesday mornings. As well as on Friday evenings in Summer. Play is mainly short sets of doubles (and some singles), and then the teams are mixed around to play with new partners and opponents. That way everyone gets variety, the chance to play against others of the same standard or higher.
Coaching
There is no coaching on offer. However, other local club do offer an extensive range. So if you’re after coaching, it may be worth considering other clubs.
Competitive Tennis
BLAGSS Tennis puts 2 teams in the city-wide Brighton & Hove Parks League. The teams are for those wishing to play competitive matches against other clubs playing at public parks in Brighton & Hove. BLAGSS plays its home matches at St. Anne’s Well Gardens, Nizells Avenue (off Davigdor Road) Hove.
Membership
It costs no more than £1 for 2 hours of tennis. And so all can offer to play!
