Grasshoppers Lawn Tennis Club in Hove, East Sussex combines tennis of all standards with a vibrant social life.
Social Play
For complete beginners and people who have not played for a while and so are a bit “rusty” there are pay and play sessions on Friday evening. Improvers are welcome to join a club session on Tuesday evenings. Finally, if you’re of a good standard, there are sessions on Thursday morning, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday morning. These sessions are regularly attended by players from all the teams.
Due to the number of courts available and the demand for them by members, it is unfortunately not possible to cater for either juniors or complete novices on any regular club sessions. However, novices or people who are out of practice are welcome on our Friday evening sessions.
Coaching
There is coaching available on a Friday evening in a group format. However, Grasshoppers Lawn Tennis Club doesn’t offer any other coaching. If you’re looking for an extensive coaching programme, it may be best to consider other local clubs.
Competitive Tennis
For the best players there are fixtures against other clubs. Teams meet for additional practice sessions on Monday evening and Wednesday evenings.
Membership
The main types of membership are Full member, country member, Student member, and transitional club member. The club also offers off-peak plus Friday night and Social memberships. Visitors are welcome to come to any club session to have a look around and meet the members.
Extras
The bar in the clubhouse is well stocked and open during all club sessions. Free WiFi is also available to members. There is an active social life throughout the year with one or more social events most months throughout the year.
