Hanley Tennis Club
Hanley Tennis Club offers coaching, teams and tournaments as well as some of the liveliest social events around. Located in a quiet corner of the Shepherds Cot Trust, otherwise known as the Crouch End Playing Fields. This peaceful area of 100 acres is surrounded by woodland and is home to a number of tennis and cricket clubs. Alexandra Palace also provides a spectacular backdrop to the courts.
Social Play
Hanley provides a friendly atmosphere for social tennis. Weekly sessions are a great opportunity to meet and play with other Hanley members and visitors. They take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And usually players pair up and play doubles. Members are also able to arrange their own games during the week.
Coaching
Three coaches are available at Hanley and Maz Magdian is the head coach. He is an LTA Level 3 qualified Tennis coach. Maz offers members and non-members a free 20 minute individual coaching taster session. He also runs a fantastic programme of coaching which is open to members and non members. Adult group sessions are on Saturdays and Sundays. Juniors can join weekly group coaching sessions as well as holiday camps.
Competitive Tennis
For more competitive members, both men’s and women’s teams compete in the Middlesex LTA Slazenger Doubles League. At least two club doubles tournaments take place each year. The main club tournament is the Hanley ‘Davies Cup’ mixed doubles tournament, which usually takes place at the end of August.
Membership
Come along to the club and try out the social tennis for a small fee. You’re welcome to visit up to three time before committing to membership. The club does, however change a joining fee but offers a range of membership options, all of which are affordable.
Extras
The social side of Hanley Tennis Club plays a large part in the club’s appeal. Members take turns to organise a diverse range of social events, some of which are fun, others are for fundraising. Plus, each year there is a traditional Bonfire night, Christmas entertainments, quiz nights as well as auction fundraisers.
