Putney Lawn Tennis Club
Putney Lawn Tennis Club is a thriving tennis club in Balmuir Gardens, Putney. Founded in 1879, which makes the club the second oldest lawn tennis club in the world!
There is an active tennis and social programme for members of all ages.
Social Play
Throughout the year, there’s Club Night on every Wednesday (followed by a barbecue in summer or supper in winter) and the first Sunday afternoon of the month when members are organised into games. This is a great way to get to know everyone.
Coaching
The club has 3 full-time coaches who are available to help you improve your tennis game. They are available for both members and non-members and provide either individual or group coaching; all ages and levels welcome. There are also holiday camps for kids.
Competitive Tennis
In addition to encouraging social tennis amongst at all times, the club runs a wide range of tennis events throughout the year. There are two intra-club tournaments (the Open and the Handicap), a number of Bank Holiday one-day tournaments and a winter league. The winter leagues are for singles & doubles players of all standards.
There are also men’s and ladies teams, who compete in the Surrey Leagues. So if you’re looking for a range of competitive play, the club offers a wide range for all ages and standards.
Membership
Putney Lawn Tennis Club offers a range of membership options, however, there is a waiting list on some packages. Full Membership is fully subscribed every year and so we run yearly play-in sessions to replace the members who leave. These take place at weekends during February and March.
Off-Peak, Junior and Social Membership (does not include tennis) are available throughout the year.
