Hythe Lawn Tennis Club
Situated in the Cinque Port town of Hythe in Kent, Hythe Lawn Tennis Club is a friendly non-profit club . Formed in 1889, the club was initial connected to the Hythe Cricket Club. After 57 years, in 1946, the club was separated from the cricket club. And today, is completely independent. As a result, this means the club is reputed to be one of the oldest tennis clubs in the world!
Social Play
Adult members and juniors with senior status are welcome to attend social mix-in sessions. These take place on Wednesdays from 6pm, Thursdays and Saturdays from 2pm. No need to book in advance, just turn up and play!
Coaching
The club has a very active coaching programme in place for children and adults of all ages, run by CH Tennis Ltd and Head Coach Chris Hollands.
Competitive Tennis
Around 20 club teams compete in various local leagues at weekends and during the week over the summer and winter. There are six teams in the Kent League, seven in the Ashford League and six in the Dover & District League.
There’s the opportunity to play for the Club’s Teams and we run weekly Social Mix-Ins and Walking Tennis sessions, monthly Singles Box Leagues, quarterly Fun (Doubles) Tournaments for players of all levels, annual Ladies’ & Men’s Days and a Summer Tournament and Club Championship Finals Day.
Membership
Various membership options are available and they aim to make tennis more accessible, the club funds all Junior (Mini) memberships (age: 4 – 10) and Junior (Bursaries) are available on application for youngsters (age: 11 – 17).

Also, there are many social events throughout the year, including Quiz Nights, barbeques, and so much more.
